“I think Scholastic Book Fairs are a wonderful idea and it’s fantastic that they’re now 21 years old” Jacqueline Wilson, Children’s Laureate 2005-2007
21 years of getting children reading and 21 million free books given to schools – that’s almost enough free books to give two to every child in the UK!
We thought that was something worth celebrating, so, as a way to say thank you to the thousands of schools in the UK who run a Scholastic Book Fair, we’ve planned a year of competitions, author events, offers and more.
You can find all the details here, as well as information about how our 21 years of experience can be put to work, helping you and your school to get even more children reading. Make sure to check back for more news as the anniversary progresses!
We received over 19,000 stories and poems from children as part of our We Are Writers Young Author of the Year competition. Our judge Francesca Simon was amazed by the standard of the entries, but there could only be one winner…
To launch Scholastic Book Fairs’ 21st anniversary, we asked you to vote for your favourite children’s book from a selection of 40 popular titles. Thousands of votes were cast – and now the results are in!
Every Organiser who runs a Book Fair in our anniversary year has the chance to win a book signed by children’s literature legends including Anthony Browne, Quentin Blake, Michael Rosen and more.
Book Fair Gift Vouchers are the simple, secure way to ensure your child gets the books they want when the Scholastic Book Fair arrives and are perfect for parents who can’t make it to the Fair.
As an introductory limited offer, you can purchase vouchers online at a discounted rate and save £££s!

‘It’s amazing that our school has been having a Scholastic Book Fair for 21 years and even more astonishing to think how many children have taken books home from them to read over and over again.’
Marguerite Fowler, St Mary’s Primary School
