Competitions are a G.R.E.A.T. way to create excitement for your Book Fair.

From the Union Jack to the famous five Olympic rings, flags will be flying all over the UK this summer for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
But what about your school’s Book Fair? It doesn’t have a flag … but we think it should!
The challenge
Design a flag to show how brilliant books and reading can be. Your pupils could use symbols, shapes and colours, favourite book characters or even a catchy slogan – as long as it shows what makes reading fun!
The very best flag design will win the prizes listed below.

Print the competition entry form
Ask your pupils to fill in their name, age and school address on their completed entry form. Then send your school’s entries to: Design a Flag Competition, Scholastic Book Fairs, Euston House, 24 Eversholt Street, London, NW1 1DB. Closing date is 31st July 2012.
We cannot accept entries by email, but entries do not have to be submitted on the official entry form – any material is acceptable and originality is encouraged!
Don’t forget that if you run a competition in the lead up to your Book Fair, you can claim a free £25 voucher for books to use as prizes.
Terms and conditions
1. No purchase necessary to enter the competition. 2. Competition open to children aged 0-13 and closed to employees of the Promoter or anyone else connected with the promotions. 3. Entries must be received by 31st July 2012. 4. No cash alternative will be offered to prizes. 5. The Scholastic Book Fairs team will choose one winning entry. The decision of the Scholastic Book Fairs team is final and no correspondence will be entered into. 6. The prize for the winning child consists of a Nintendo 3DS, two games and three books. 7. The winner will be notified of their prize by 21st September 2012. 8. Address for entry is: Design a Flag Competition, Scholastic Book Fairs, Euston House, 24 Eversholt Street, London NW1 1DB. For details of the winner, send a S.A.E. marked Design a Flag Competition to Scholastic Book Fairs, Euston House, 24 Eversholt Street, London NW1 1DB, at least one week after the winners’ notification date. 11. No responsibility will be taken for entries that are damaged, illegible, incomplete, lost or delayed in the post or otherwise fail to reach the Promoter by the closing date. Entry forms will not be returned to entrants. 12. The Promoter reserves the right to display entries in promotional material and on the website. 13. The Promoter will only use entrants’ personal information in connection with this competition. All personal details will be destroyed once the winners are announced. 14. It is a condition of entry that all entrants agree to be bound by these rules and are asked to retain a copy of these rules for any future reference.
