How to set up your Zettle terminal

If you received a Zettle terminal with your Book Fair, read on to find out how to use it. There is no need to connect your terminal to WiFi, as it works through the network signal in your area.

Getting started

  1. Press the power button located on the top of your Terminal.
  2. If it needs charging, please connect the USB-C cable to the charging port located on the right-hand side of the Terminal, and plug it into a power outlet. The battery symbol in your status bar will indicate that the Terminal is charging.
  3. Log in to the terminal using your email address and password. You should have received an invitation to activate your account. If you have not received the information or are unsure of your details, please contact us on info@scholastic.co.uk. Once you have received the invitation, you will be asked to set up a password. Please do not set up an account.
  4. Navigate to the Home Screen by swiping up from the bottom of the screen. NB: If the machine keeps powering off, this is due to a poor signal or blocks on the WiFi network for selling sites.

Scanning items

  1. Click on the menu bar and select Sell.
  2. You can add to the basket using the barcode scanner. Simply press the button on the right hand side of the device and point it at the barcode on the back of the book.
  3. To add manual charges (e.g. for stationery without a barcode), go to the shopping cart and select Amount. Enter the amount and click the tick. You may then scan the next product and move onto charge.

Completing the sale

  1. You will see items added to the shopping basket. Once you are ready to complete the sale, click the shopping basket icon in the top right hand corner. You will then be shown a summary of the purchase.
  2. If your Fair is during World Book Day Week, you can take a £1 discount off transactions by pressing the Discount button.
  3. Click the Charge button at the bottom of the page.
  4. You can choose to process the payment as a cash or card payment.
  5. If you choose card, you will be asked to present the card for purchase. Note: if preferred, customers can insert the card into the bottom of the terminal.
  6. If you choose cash, you will be asked for the amount tendered and the terminal will show you the change due.

Rewards

  1. If you choose to spend your Rewards by taking items from the bookcases, scan the items as a single purchase.
  2. Then, view the shopping cart and click the % icon in the top right hand corner. This will allow you to apply a discount of 100%. Please enter Rewards as the discount code.

Note: you will receive a warning that this is a zero value transaction. You can accept this warning and continue.
